Russia suspends imports of pork and beef from Lithuania and meat and dairy products from Greece

Russia from July 15 to suspend imports of chilled pork and beef from Lithuania, and also introduces a temporary restrictions on imports of meat and dairy products from Greece, BelTA learned from the press service of Rosselkhoznadzor.

Imports from Lithuania suspended the inspection, which took place in May 2013, and in connection with the failure of the full animal health requirements and regulations of the Customs Union on products inspected three Lithuanian enterprises. Sanctions imposed to deal with the situation noted in the department.

Violation of veterinary-sanitary requirements and norms of the TC point to the fact that the Veterinary Service of Lithuania to the certification of export products of animal origin, including finished products, cannot guarantee her safety at all stages of production, according to Rosselkhoznadzor.

Veterinary Service of Lithuania requested to check all Lithuanian companies supplying products of animal origin in the state the vehicle, on the possibility of their animal health requirements and standards and submit to Rosselhoznadzor within one month of the updated lists of companies that perform the specified requirements and standards.

Restrictions on Greek products introduced in connection with the discovery by Rosselkhoznadzor during an inspection of Greek enterprises producing finished meat and dairy products violations of veterinary-sanitary requirements and norms of the Customs Union, in particular, the cases of raw materials for the production of finished meat and dairy products produced by enterprises, do not have the right to export their products to the state of TS.

Previously, the decision on the temporary restriction was made in respect of only 50 Greek enterprises. However, after an additional inspection Rosselhoznadzor imposed restrictions on the importation of products from all Greek enterprises.
